Our Friend Peter Seabrook MBE

It was with great sadness that we learned this weekend of the sudden death of our friend and mentor Peter Seabrook MBE.  Peter was a great supporter of our desire to encourage the next generation of horticulturalists at Pershore High School.  He was incredibly supportive, always positive and an inspiration to young people, as well as those old enough to remember him on Gardeners' World in the 1970s!

Earlier this year Peter encouraged our students to grow Poppins Chrysanthemums for the Chelsea Flower Show; it was his great wish that students would learn the pleasure of working in a garden and developing their practical skills in horticulture, something he had enjoyed all his life.

Anne Watson, teacher of Horticulture said, "Peter was a great supporter of the RHS Horticulture Unit and gave advice and support as well as providing wonderful challenges such as the opportunity to contribute to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.  He made a surprise visit to RHS Wisley when Kristian Foxley got through to the finals of RHS Young School Gardener of the Year in order to show his support.

He was the Guest of Honour at our 2018 Presentation Evening  and all those who attended will remember him for his passionate and inspirational talk. He was a wonderful, kind man who was my inspiration as a child and became my guru in later years, it was an honour to work with him and he will be sadly missed within the Horticulture Industry."

Peter's support for horticulture at Pershore High School and practical and vocational education in general will be greatly missed - a true gentleman, sadly mourned.
