Wellbeing and Mental Health
We all have Mental Health and it is an important part of overall health. People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. They’re able to cope with life’s challenges. They can keep problems in perspective and bounce back from setbacks. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships.
Being emotionally and mentally healthy doesn’t mean you’re happy all the time. It means you’re aware of how you feel. You can deal with feelings and thoughts, whether they’re positive or negative. Emotionally healthy people still feel stress, anger, and sadness. But they know how to manage their negative feelings. They can tell when a problem is more than they can handle on their own. They also know when to seek help.
Everyone needs help at some time in their lives and we believe that getting support for emotional health issues or worries can prevent it from getting worse.
At Pershore High School we offer a variety of internal support for our students and we have many external links to other agencies to which students and parents/carers can be signposted.
Please follow the links below to read about our Wellbeing support; please note that this is only a selection of organisations that provide support and is not an exhaustive list.
Theme of the Week
The theme of this term’s tutor activities and assemblies is Wellbeing. Last half term we concentrated on how our Physical Health affects wellbeing, discussing sleep and exercise. This resulted in a challenge being set by Mrs Bowden for students to increase their levels of physical activity and the opportunity to win some great prizes. In addition, our CAMHS WEST wellbeing practitioner Fiona Yoward has prepared the attached presentation for parents on the importance of sleep for teenagers, with some tips on how to help your child improve their sleep. This half term we are working on Wellbeing; Belonging and Kindness, which started with assemblies on Hate Crime and protected characteristics delivered by PCSO Katie Radford.
