Performing Arts

There are 4 permanent subject specialists who deliver Performing Arts to pupils in Year 7 through to Year 13.  Two teachers specialise in Drama and two teachers specialise in Music.

Students have the opportunity to study both Drama and Music at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and at Key Stage 5.  Alongside a shared ethos of practically experiencing Performing Arts, the Drama and Music departments collaborate most prominently in our annual whole-school production.  This typically involves around 100 students; from those who perform on the stage in lead, chorus or dance roles, to those engaged backstage in technical support, sound or lighting as well as the musicians who play all of the music.  This is a particular highlight of our school calendar.

Similarly, the Faculty marks Christmas through our annual Carol Service which includes performance from the school 4-part choir, instrumental and vocal soloists and drama performances which help bring the Christmas story alive and share important messages with the school and wider community.

We hold strong community links with groups such Number 8 in Pershore, Mellofest based in Hanley Swan and both Anne Renshaw and renowned conductor Neil Ferris in choral work.  The Performing Arts faculty is an exciting, practical and enthusiastic group of staff and all are hugely passionate about the role that Performing Arts can play in the lives of young people now and in their future.
