General ITT Information

Pershore High School has extensive experience in Initial Teacher Training (ITT), having been a successful Training School between 2007 and 2011, and received an extremely positive Ofsted Inspection Report at our most recent inspection in September 2017. We provide a supportive environment in a dynamic and exciting fully comprehensive school, giving opportunities to widen professional experience inside and outside the classroom. Trainees will be part of successful and high achieving departments, with a wealth of experience to draw from. Trainees will have a comprehensive Professional Programme of training to follow and be part of a large contingent of fellow trainees from other routes into teaching. Evaluation feedback from ITT trainees is always positive with 100% of trainees awarding the provision as good or better. This, alongside department support, will give you the best possible start to your new career.

Pershore High School’s long association with ITT have seen us develop close links with the University of Worcester, University of Gloucester and Birmingham City University, amongst others. We are also in partnership with the Prince Henry’s and South Worcestershire School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). Most departments throughout the school provide trainees with a varied and full teaching experience. We support trainees who follow the SEND pathway with the universities and thus provide a good opportunity for all to develop their understanding of SEND, having a well-established Learning Resource Centre as well as an Autism Base.

The Professional Programme is run by the Training Manager and prepares trainees for life in school. Experienced staff and senior teachers contribute to the training that complements what the universities and SCITT offers. It covers topics such as Lesson Planning, Assessment for Learning, Behaviour for Learning and Safeguarding. A brief overview of the professional training offered can be found in one of the links on the Home ITT page.

Trainees are considered members of staff by the school and are expected to demonstrate the professional behaviour and appearance expected of fully qualified staff.
