Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Overview
Teaching and Learning are inter-dependent. We continuously seek to refine and improve our people and our pedagogy in order to provide the best learning experience for children who attend Pershore High School. We believe that teachers who continually strive to develop their teaching have greater impact on the lives of students and their future opportunities. We have developed our Teaching@Pershore framework to allow clear areas for focus in adaptive pedagogy. Our monitoring and evaluation processes focus upon the aspects of the framework so that we can provide effective feedback to departmental teams and teachers so that we can continue to improve our craft.
Students who understand the learning process are more likely to invest in their own learning experience. To this end we have also developed our learning framework which provides a transparent basis for learners to see that, with dedicated practice, they can know more and develop their ability to think and communicate with depth and clarity. With positivity and ambition, students at Pershore High School can achieve well, be prepared for their future and look forward with confidence.
We aim to develop strong memories linked to key knowledge required to move forward in each subject discipline. As a result our curriculum will revisit key knowledge on a regular basis to ensure its consolidation. Almost all knowledge that might be learned in school sits in hierarchical structures within our subject and topic organisation and we encourage learners to develop their understanding of how topics relate to each other and fit into the bigger picture of the topic being studied. Once students can locate and recall key information they are more prepared to take on new ideas and concepts, to analyse and explain a topic and to be able to communicate their understanding well.
