Key Stage 4

Students who opt for Sport Studies, receive five hours of examination sport per fortnight.  Many students choose Sport at KS4, and the course is proving very popular with students due to its vocational assessment criteria.

Students study the OCR Cambridge National Level 2 Sport Science specification and are taught both the theory and practical lessons alongside each other.  The course is taught in units across the two years and is delivered in a way that all students have the opportunity to produce high quality work and achieve excellent grades.

Key Stage 5

At Key stage 5, students have the opportunity to study Physical Education further through the OCR Cambridge Technicals Level 3 Extended Certificate in Physical Activity.  Students receive 9 taught hours of Technical Sport every fortnight.

During this time, students will study 3 coursework based units and 2 exams units. The Unit 1 exam covers Body systems and the effects of physical activity and is an extension to the Nationals course taught at KS4. The unit 3 exam focuses on sports development and organisations, and is vital for pupils looking to follow a career in sport.
