Year 8 and 9 Artclub Workshop: The River of Hope - Jubilee Work

At Pershore High School in Worcestershire our Key Stage 3 Artclub students have been creating work that builds on our partnership with our school in Nairobi, Kenya. We decided to celebrate the Platinum jubilee taking inspiration from the Queen’s Kenyan visit back in 1952. It was here, following the death of her father, that she effectively had to change from being a Princess to the Queen. When we looked at some of the imagery from this time and the amazing wildlife and landscape in Kenya it become increasingly apparent that things have changed a lot since 1952; some of which can be attributed to modernisation and climate change. Despite these changes, one thing that has remained is that Kenya has continued to provide the ‘English breakfast tea’ that we continue to drink! Access the full article.
